Rich Galen is a frequent CNN guest and author of the popular online column "Mullings." He has extensive political experience in the United States and abroad. Mr. Galen served as press secretary to Dan Quayle and Newt Gingrich and was the senior advisor to Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson. His career has taken him from Eastern Europe to build democratic infrastructures when the Communist governments dissolved to serving as the director of the Emerging Markets Group at Electronic Data Systems (now HP Enterprise Services) where he helped to establish operations in Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Galen also completed a six-month tour of duty in Iraq at the request of the White House in 2003-2004 and from 2009-2011 he was a part of a bipartisan election observer team in Afghanistan, Ukraine and Nigeria.
