Our West Coast Land Use and Environmental Group and Real Estate Practice are hosting a webinar series to discuss recent updates in the land use and environment industries. The first session in this series is titled, "Use It or Lose It: California's Sixth Cycle Housing Element a Powerful Tool for Expediting Housing Project Approvals."

This presentation addresses the Housing Element update as a necessary and powerful tool in the fight to approve housing, particularly when coupled with recent housing litigation wins and other housing laws. Housing policy in California rests largely on the effective implementation of each jurisdiction's local Housing Element, an important component of a General Plan that, pursuant to state law, must be updated in five-year or eight-year cycles. California is now in its sixth Housing Element update cycle, and Bay Area jurisdictions in particular are at a critical juncture in the process.
