Lubbock, Texas 79409
Senior Policy Advisor Mike Warner and Appellate attorney Rich Phillips will speak at the 2026 Energy Law Symposium co-hosted by the Texas Tech Law Review and Journal of the Energy Law Practitioner. With a theme of "The Brave New World of AI and Data Centers," the day-long program will examine connections among artificial intelligence (AI), data centers and the energy industry. Mike, who leads Holland & Knight's Texas Government Advocacy Team, will offer the legislative perspective on data centers, focusing on recent rulemaking initiatives and orders from the state government increasing oversight of data center development and permitting processes. Turning toward AI, Rich will offer a presentation on the ethical use of AI by lawyers, from rules of professional conduct to legal ethics regulations to attorney-client privilege protection. Taken together, speakers will offer an in-depth look at AI in the legal profession, influx of data centers, and energy policy and regulation – and what these relationships mean for the local energy industry. In-person and virtual attendance is available for the symposium.
