Holland & Knight recently strengthened its leading Maritime Team with the addition of Senior Counsel Carrol Hand in the firm's Richmond office. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, she was associate general counsel for a major global logistics service provider.

In addition to her most recent role, Ms. Hand's prior work experience includes serving as associate general counsel at a major container ocean carrier, counsel to a commissioner on the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) and associate general counsel at a major ship registry.

"Her in-depth knowledge of the operational and regulatory challenges that the shipping industry faces make her an invaluable resource to our clients and colleagues within our Maritime Team."

Ms. Hand will serve as an editor of The Commission Blog, along with Partners Christopher Nolan and Gerald Morrissey III and Associate Allison Skopec.

At Holland & Knight, Ms. Hand focuses her practice on a wide range of international and domestic maritime issues, including transactional, litigation and regulatory compliance matters, with a particular focus on matters involving the FMC. She also has in-depth knowledge of a variety of maritime law, transportation law, corporate law, contract law, supply chain logistics, bankruptcy law and collections issues.

Ms. Hand earned a J.D. degree from Tulane University Law School, a M.S. degree from the University of Windsor and a B.A. degree from Barnard College, Columbia University.
