Expanded Patent Review Bill Won't Kill The Trolls

The Patent Quality Improvement Act S.866 was introduced on Monday, which aims to expand a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office patent review program. This legislation could provide a helpful way for defendants to fight off litigation, but it will most likely not resolve the "patent troll" problem.

"It's a nice added defense strategy, but I don't expect it will have a major impact on NPE cases," said IP Partner David Donoghue. "I don't view it as a sea change."
