5 Big Targets On The HHS Watchdog's Hit List

Investigative plans from the Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services show an increased scrutiny of Affordable Care Act spending and inquiries involving patient privacy and Medicare billing. Healthcare attorney Shannon Hartsfield says that the new review of HIPAA safeguards is one of these must-watch areas on the list.

"I would venture to say that there are probably a number of covered entities out there that have not fully complied with the [HIPAA] Security Rule," Ms. Hartsfield said.
