Significant changes in policies have affected federal contractors, including the ban of Chinese tech products. The interim rule stems from lawmakers' concerns about Chinese-made equipment potentially being used for espionage purposes. 

"The ban is obviously part of a multifront war between the U.S. and China," said Attorney Eric Crusius. Federal contractors are required to closely examine their supply chains to certify that they are not selling any of the banned products to federal agencies. Businesses claim that the interim rule lacks clarity with "unrealistic" reporting burdens.
