Appellate Practice Group Partner and President of the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) Frances Guasch De La Guardia was interviewed by VoyageMIA magazine about her robust career as an attorney. In the interview Ms. De La Guardia shared how she became interested in the legal profession, her path to Holland & Knight and the type of work she is doing for the firm now. She also detailed the struggles and challenges she faced growing up financially disadvantaged and working as a Cuban American woman in a male-dominated industry. Ms. De La Guardia emphasized her passion for giving back through pro bono work and mentoring young associates.
"What sets me apart is my passion for the legal profession and commitment to pro bono work and giving back to the community despite the pressure of big law to focus on billable time. What sets me apart is that I have found a way to do both," Ms. De La Guardia said about her work with Holland & Knight and CABA. When asked about inspiration Ms. De La Guardia said, "credit goes to all the strong women who came before me and helped pave the way for us to go to law school, practice law including all the nine-strong female presidents of CABA who preceded me."
