Ecopetrol, Team Foods and Indumil Lead the Ranking of Companies with the Most Patents

Intellectual Property attorney Danilo Romero was interviewed by Asuntos Legales about a report from Colombia's Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) detailing how many patents companies have and in what sectors patents are concentrated. According to the SIC, Ecopetrol has the most active patents (85), and the chemical sector has the most number of patent applications (801). Mr. Romero affirmed that Ecopetrol traditionally leads the list because of its business in hydrocarbons and commented that the fact that the chemical sector leads the list demonstrates innovation in this field.

"It surprises me to see the chemical sector and not the industrial leading the list. However, it is a reliable indication that our laboratories are at the forefront of the sector," he said.
