Reform Would Not Fix the Finances of the Health Sector
Corporate attorney Daniela Arbeláez was interviewed by Portafolio about the reform to Colombia's health system. Diverse sectors have judged that the project will not improve underfunding that the industry faces today, because of which a recomposition of its resources has been proposed. Ms. Arbeláez commented that financing for the system has multiple sources, such as contributions to the contributory regime made by employees and employers, which implies that the use and destination of resources is subject to and regulated by the current laws.
"Whatever recomposition or redistribution that was made should, in addition to following previously established regulations, be suject to rules of budget and public spending, as well as the respective fiscal rules," she said.
