Real Estate attorney Esteban García was mentioned in an article for Asuntos Legales about fines for non-attendance at the annual meeting of landlords for residential buildings and co-ops. Mr. Garcia explained that the Regulation of Condominiums obligates attendance and allows for establishing monetary or social sanctions or restrictions on the use of common areas. He also highlighted that the fines cannot exceed double the monthly administration fee nor a total sum greater than 10 times the said value.

"The space and opportunity must be given to present the reasons for non-attendance and the principles of due process must be taken into account in the decision," he said.
