Trade with U.S. Underpins Mexico's Economy
International Trade attorney Turenna Ramírez was interviewed by Reforma about the close trade relationship between Mexico and the United States. According to a report published this week, the commercial integration with the United States has allowed for economic growth in the country that has been sustained for 40 years, including 44 percent of its foreign direct investment (FDI) in the second quarter of 2024. Ms. Ramírez commented that because the U.S. is the main trade partner for Mexico, it is important to avoid legislative changes that hinder attracting new investment or that create legal uncertainty.
"Without judicial certainty, we saw that the risk of an investor, I would say is high, is infinite, because anything can happen," she said.
