Real Estate attorney Esteban García was quoted in an article published by Valora Analitik about the process and costs associated with inheriting a property in Colombia. Mr. García explained that the way to settle an inheritance depends on the type of procedure required, whether notarial or judicial, and that in both cases it is necessary to have the representation of a lawyer, unless the value of the assets is less than 15 current legal monthly minimum wages. Additionally, he detailed the taxes and expenses that must be paid, such as notary fees and registration expenses.

"If all the heirs agree, a notarial procedure can be used. If there are controversies, the settlement must be processed through a judicial procedure before the competent civil or family judge," he said.
