Decoding the Administration's First Cyber Executive Order

Cybersecurity and privacy attorney Bart Huffman was interviewed by Cybersecurity Law Report for an article on President Donald Trump's June 2025 cybersecurity executive order (EO). The EO rescinds several aspects of former President Joe Biden's EO 14144, issued in January, that sought to strengthen the country's cybersecurity infrastructure and augment protections for individuals' digital identities. The Trump EO rolls back the section on digital identity and eases many of the other requirements, though Mr. Huffman noted that overall, it maintains much of the policies put forth by the Biden Administration.

"It is the same policy, same objective, but fewer actual requirements," he explained.
