Subsidies Reduction and Land Use Regulation Impact Judicial Certainty and Housing Offerings in Colombia

Real Estate attorney Esteban García was cited in Dinero magazine commenting on the reduction of housing subsidies in Colombia. He highlighted that it's important to create a stable legal framework to reactivate real estate projects as well as return to the parameters for the model that previously functioned.

"The government's latest decisions to try to reactivate subsidies are marginal compared to the effects generated," he said. "They went from allocating 65,000 and 50,000 housing subsidies in 2022 and 2023, respectively, to fewer than 5,000 in 2024. This year, at most, 10,000 subsidies will be delivered."
