FinTech, Energy and Infrastructure: The Sectors That Will Attract the Most Investment in 2026
Corporate attorney Julia Velásquez was featured in an interview with Valora Analitik about trends in Colombia's mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market. She explained that acquisition activity between Millicom y Telefónica and sale of Grupo Nutresa marked a milestone in the country's corporate history because these megaoperations made up for the decrease in number of transactions and elevated investment in local markets. She highlighted technology, infrastructure and energy as the sectors where national and international investors are concentrating their attention, and she observed that private equity and venture capital funds are gaining ground even as traditional M&A structures continue to dominate. She additionally detailed how companies are bolstering their due diligence processes amid regulatory changes and new, emerging risk areas, and recommended that companies focus on internal structures, regulatory compliance and sustainability to make themselves attractive investment or acquisition targets.
"Due diligence is an unavoidable requirement. Identifying critical risks and defining mitigation measures are fundamental both for acquiring and being acquired," she said.
