Joshua C. Prever Joins Holland & Knight's Financial Services Litigation Team

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (May 16, 2019) – Trial and appellate lawyer Joshua C. Prever has joined Holland & Knight's Fort Lauderdale office as a partner in the firm's South Florida Litigation Practice. Mr. Prever works with Fortune 100 and 500 companies on complex commercial litigation matters involving financial services disputes, torts and securities litigation, with a significant emphasis on regulatory and compliance matters. He was formerly with Morgan Lewis in Miami.

"Josh has excellent experience managing complex litigation and regulatory matters in the financial services sector," said Adolfo Jimenez, head of Holland & Knight's South Florida Litigation Practice. "He also has great relationships with some of our most important national financial institution clients. Those factors, along with his impressive involvement with local pro bono initiatives, make him a perfect fit for our firm."

Financial services clients seek Mr. Prever's counsel on regulatory and compliance issues, audits, investigations, and outsourcing relating to loan servicing and default services, as well as litigation involving mortgage-backed securities, class actions and single-borrower actions concerning residential mortgages and a variety of other matters. From Florida, where a number of financial institutions maintain servicing centers, Mr. Prever oversees a national practice designed to prevent and, where necessary, resolve concerns raised by federal and state regulators, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on mortgage and loan servicing issues, as well as a variety of litigation matters.

Mr. Prever has an active pro bono practice and is the former chair of Legal Line Miami, the Dade County Bar Association telephone legal clinic. He has successfully represented clients seeking political asylum in the United States and served as both guardian and attorney ad litem for children in family court. Mr. Prever also serves as the chair of the Leadership Counsel for Take Stock in Children Miami, an organization that provides deserving low-income high school students with mentors and college scholarships.

Mr. Prever earned a J.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Law and a B.A. degree from Florida International University. He is admitted to practice in Florida, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
