Holland & Knight Assists Dream Finders Homes in Acquisition of Texas-Based McGuyer Homebuilders, Inc.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (October 12, 2021) – Holland & Knight provided counsel to Dream Finders Homes, Inc. (NASDAQ: DFH) in its $471 million acquisition of the privately-held Texas homebuilder McGuyer Homebuilders, Inc. (MHI) and its affiliates. The deal closed on October 5.

DFH, one of the nation’s fastest growing homebuilding companies, is based in Jacksonville, Florida and operates in Florida, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, Virginia and Maryland.

MHI, which does business under the Coventry Homes brand, builds in the Texas markets of Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. It has been operating since 1988 and has closed over 55,000 homes. MHI has more than 100 active selling communities.

The acquisition will significantly increase DFH’s geographic operations in the Austin metro area and will allow DFH to expand throughout Texas. As part of the acquisition, MHI’s CEO and all of its employees will remain with the combined company and continue to operate the existing and new home communities under the Coventry Homes brand.

DFH in-house counsel handled the corporate transaction and related financing.
