Healthcare M&A Partner John Devine Joins Holland & Knight in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (May 9, 2022) – Holland & Knight has expanded its Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice with the addition of John Devine as a partner in its Philadelphia office. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Devine was a partner with Ballard Spahr LLP, where he served as co-leader of the firm's Health Care Group.

Mr. Devine counsels clients on private mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, including private equity and venture capital financing transactions, securities offerings and commercial licensing transactions, with concentrated experience in the healthcare industry. In addition, his transactional experience spans a variety of other industries, including life sciences, pharmaceuticals, light manufacturing, consumer products, consulting services, and food and beverages. He also advises healthcare clients on regulatory matters.

"John is a first-rate healthcare and life sciences M&A lawyer who adds significant depth to our industry-specific capabilities," said John Martini, executive partner of Holland & Knight's Philadelphia office. "Our clients will benefit from his sophisticated business skills and legal acumen, and we are pleased to welcome him to our firm."

The addition of Mr. Devine follows the hiring of fellow Philadelphia Partner Colby Smith, who joined Holland & Knight's Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group in the Northeast region earlier this year.

"We are committed to growing our Northeast corporate practice, and John's addition presents another strategic opportunity to enhance our Philadelphia and national platform in M&A and private equity," said Amy Leder, co-leader of the firm's Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group in the Northeast region.

"I am thrilled to join my colleagues at Holland & Knight, which not only possesses one of the nation's leading corporate practices, but also a first-tier Healthcare and Life Sciences Team," Mr. Devine said. "This is a wonderful opportunity to join a firm with a true entrepreneurial culture, and I plan to become a pivotal member of the team."

Mr. Devine received a J.D. degree from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and a B.A. degree from Brown University.
