Corporate Attorney David Alberto Zavala Joins Holland & Knight in Monterrey

The firm also promoted four associates to senior counsel

MEXICO CITY and MONTERREY, MEXICO (July 1, 2024) – Holland & Knight is pleased to welcome David Alberto Zavala as senior counsel in the firm's Monterrey office. Mr. Zavala advises Mexican and foreign clients on corporate matters within Mexico, including foreign corporate groups' entry into the Mexican market. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, he assisted clients from multiple industries while working for leading Mexican law firms, served as corporate counsel for private companies and the Consulate of Mexico in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was an associate to a Mexican Notary Public.

Mr. Zavala's practice focuses on advising Mexican and foreign clients in matters regarding corporate secretarial services, such as incorporation of Mexican legal entities, compliance with corporate registries, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), spinoffs, dissolutions and liquidations, transfer of shares and assets, real estate matters, contracts (civil, commercial and finance), negotiating incentives granted by state governments, design of corporate and business structures, foreign investment, legal due diligence and industrial property, among other matters.

Mr. Zavala received a law degree from the Universidad de Monterrey, in addition to receiving multiple diplomas from various universities for several industry-focused courses and seminars. He is currently pursuing an MBA degree in Finance from Universidad Regiomontana.

Additionally, Holland & Knight has promoted four associates to senior counsel: Daniel Nájera de los Santos, Francisco García Lerma and Roberto Jiménez Saca in the firm's Monterrey office, and Antonio Barrera in the firm's Mexico City office.

Mr. Nájera has more than 10 years of experience in corporate law and corporate governance, developing his professional practice at various national and transnational companies as an in-house lawyer. He advises clients on corporate restructuring, M&A, legal auditing, as well as trusts, leases, purchase and sale agreements, and sale of fixed assets.

Mr. García focuses his practice on labor and social security matters. He previously served as head of legal services at the Mexican Social Security Institute.

Mr. Jiménez's experience includes M&A, corporate governance and regulatory compliance, foreign investment, the constitution and organization of companies in Mexico, and drafting and negotiating contracts.

Mr. Barrera has more than 12 years of experience in the energy sector and dispute resolution, primarily in commercial, administrative and energy law, in addition to domestic and international commercial arbitration. He focuses his practice on advising and representing national and international companies in the energy, financial and infrastructure development sectors.
