Experienced Real Estate Finance Partner Daniel Katz Joins Holland & Knight in Century City
LOS ANGELES (June 29, 2026) – Holland & Knight has bolstered its leading real estate practice in California with the addition of Daniel Katz as a partner in the Firm's Century City office. Mr. Katz advises clients on a wide range of commercial real estate transactions across asset classes and geographies. He was previously a partner with Buchalter.
"Daniel's experience representing mortgage lenders, warehouse lenders and debt funds complements the Firm's existing strengths and enhances our ability to provide full-service representation across the capital stack," said Doug Praw, leader of the Firm's West Coast Real Estate Practice Group. "He will play an instrumental role in expanding our real estate finance capabilities in Century City and across the West Coast."
Mr. Katz's practice includes representing real estate funds, institutional and non-institutional real estate investors, developers, operators and financial institutions in a variety of sophisticated matters, including programmatic and single-asset joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions and financings. A significant portion of his practice focuses on lender-side work, where he regularly represents banks, debt funds and other institutional lenders in mortgage and mezzanine financing, warehouse facilities, and loan portfolio purchase and sale transactions related to commercial properties throughout the U.S., with a particular focus on the residential housing sector, including single-family rental (SFR) and build-to-rent (BTR) platforms.
"Holland & Knight's ability to bring together real estate, corporate, tax and capital markets resources under one roof is exactly the kind of platform my clients need as their transactions become more multifaceted," Mr. Katz said. "I'm eager to help grow the Firm's lender-side practice in a market that continues to present significant opportunities."
Mr. Katz previously served as associate general counsel for a vertically integrated real estate operating platform, where he led transaction execution and advised on financing, securitization and asset management matters, further developing his practical understanding of real estate investments and capital markets transactions.
Holland & Knight's Real Estate Practice is one of the largest real estate departments of any law firm in the United States and has been ranked as a top-tier real estate firm in California for eight years by the Chambers USA guide. The team is known for "obtaining land use, zoning and environmental approvals for significant development projects" and is "adept at financing and executing a variety of real estate transactions," according to Chambers.
Mr. Katz received a J.D. degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and a B.A. degree from Tulane University.
