Cybersecurity and privacy attorney Shardul Desai will participate in the American Bar Association's Energy Transition Conference exploring evolving legal frameworks for the U.S. energy grid. Mr. Desai and panelists will look at the status of physical and cybersecurity infrastructure as it relates to the reliable flow of energy as well as explore legal frameworks to address threats to it. They will also discuss how these frameworks need to evolve to keep up with emerging threats, tensions that may arise when addressing regulatory issues — including unique security concerns posed by renewable energy sources — and the legal structures used to ensure cybersecurity "hygiene" and apportion liability. The speakers will incorporate specific examples like the Colonial Pipeline and Solar Winds breaches, in addition to supply chain issues in Ukraine, into their discussion.
