Trade & Sanctions Compliance and Enforcement
American Conference Institute (ACI)
Houston, Texas 77027
International Trade attorneys Stephanie Connor and Matt Rosenbaum will speak at the American Conference Institute's (ACI) Trade & Sanctions Compliance and Enforcement conference in Houston, Texas. Sponsored by Holland & Knight, the program will equip participants with tools to address the latest developments in tariffs, sanctions and export enforcement as multinational companies look to build more resilient supply chains.
Ms. Connor's panel will focus on Executive Order 14157, which designated certain cartels as foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs) or specially designated global terrorists (SDGTs) to combat drug trafficking and dismantle foreign criminal networks. She will explain the January 2025 order's effects on international businesses, particularly in the financial services industry, and highlight third-party due diligence measures to implement to screen vendors and customers in high-risk jurisdictions such as Latin America as well as identify FTO risks in supply chains.
Mr. Rosenbaum's presentation will spotlight five export compliance risks facing energy and technology firms as Export Administration Regulations (EAR) enforcement amps up. Areas analyzed will include the Bureau for Industry and Security's (BIS) new "affiliates rule," artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced computing controls – such as policies on chips, software and model weights – and China's export control regime.
