Health Reform: An Important Battle Was Lost, But Not the War

Labor attorney Camilo Cuervo wrote a column for Revista Semana about the approval of the health reform in Colombia, proposed by President Gustavo Petro's government, in its first debate. Mr. Cuervo explains that several complex and anti-technical articles were approved, which can destroy years of development and social progress. He also insists that the future of the country's health system will remain in the hands of the Constitutional Court, which will review the constitutionality of the bill in question. Mr. Cuervo says hope should not be lost and that all Colombians are called to fight the academic, political or legal battles that must be fought to defend the country's health system.
