Labor, Employment and Benefits attorneys Humberto Morales, Francisco García, Sean Muzquiz, Jose Manuel Marquez, Juan Carlos Torra and Damián Gómez co-authored a Global Regulatory Developments Journal article examining a recent amendment to Mexico's Federal Labor Law that ensures workers have the right to access proper seating and rest areas during their workday. The article explains the primary purpose of this change is to improve employees' quality of life and boost productivity by reducing health risks such as varicose veins, muscle fatigue and cardiovascular problems associated with insufficient rest. Although the amendment is designed to protect worker health, it also poses challenges for employers, who need to assess its effects on their operations and take steps to comply with the new requirements.

The authors also published a Holland & Knight alert on this topic.
