Oxy and Chevron Also Bid for the Biggest Slice 'Offshore'

Portafolio

Occidental (Oxy) and Chevron are both bidding for the entire Anadarko operation with the hope that the business would significantly strengthen their portfolio of assets. However, Anadarko's blocks in Colombia are minor in terms of production and profits compared to its international operation, but it is undoubtedly the largest slice of the offshore activity in these waters. Anadarko's operation is global, but the blocks in Colombia would provide an increase in exploration and production tasks.

Energy Attorney Inés Elvira Vesga commented, "It is a transaction that takes place in the EE. UU. and that is not limited exclusively to Colombian assets, but at a key moment of reactivation in the country's oil activities, having players as important as Chevron and Oxy in bid can bring more dynamism to the operation."
