Holland & Knight Announces the 2012 Rising Stars

MIAMI – February 15, 2012 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that five women attorneys from across the firm have been selected to participate in its Rising Stars® program for 2012.

The Rising Stars program, which was launched in 2003, is designed to help prepare participants for leadership opportunities, elevate their profiles within the legal profession and community, and increase their success in business development. The year-long program focuses on leadership, marketing, management and professional skills development, professional mentoring and experiential learning. The participants, who are in at least their seventh year of practice, are chosen based on their professional experience, community involvement, motivation to be a leader, and the ability to invest the time and effort necessary for success.

The 2012 Rising Stars class includes:

Steffanie N. Garrett: A partner in the Chicago office and the Deputy Practice Group Leader for Illinois Litigation. She concentrates her practice in complex state and federal civil litigation, including contract disputes, fraud, commercial real estate and eminent domain, along with conducting internal corporate investigations. Ms. Garrett has extensive bench and jury trial experience, and also represents financial institutions in regulatory and administrative hearings.

Cynthia G. Burnside: An Atlanta-based partner who concentrates her practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation and appellate representation. She has extensive experience litigating complex cases involving a variety of substantive legal areas including, but not limited to, specialty finance, business divorce, consumer disputes, real estate, employment and civil rights, restrictive covenants, intellectual property, trade secrets, securities fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and RICO.

Christina M. Schwing: Senior Counsel in the Jacksonville office who practices in the area of litigation and is a commercial trial lawyer. As Senior Counsel, she has prosecuted and defended a broad variety of commercial, contractual and tort claims. She is experienced in handling product liability, product recall disputes, insurance defense, and construction defect matters

Lauren Jenkins: An Associate in the Private Wealth Services Section of the firm's Northern Virginia office who focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning and administration. Ms. Jenkins assists clients with the planning and preparation of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, durable medical powers of attorney and living wills. She advises fiduciaries on estate and trust administration.

Ilana B. Strickon: An Associate in the Miami office with experience in the areas of real estate finance, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and commercial leasing. Ms. Strickon has represented a variety of financial institutions involved in construction and permanent lending and loan workouts and enforcement actions.
