Holland & Knight Named Top Bond Counsel in Georgia for 2014
The firm was also ranked ninth in the Southeast by The Bond Buyer
ATLANTA (March 1, 2015) – Holland & Knight was named the No. 1 bond counsel firm in Georgia in 2014, according to The Bond Buyer, the industry’s daily trade publication. According the magazine’s Southeast Year-End Review, Holland & Knight handled transactions valued at $1.5 billion over the course of the year.
The firm also earned a spot in the Top 10 Southeast regional rankings, placing ninth for work done in 2014. The firm handled transactions valued at $1.6 billion during that time period.
The team, led by Atlanta-based partner Woody Vaughan, advised clients such as the State of Georgia, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), the City of Alpharetta, Georgia, and SunTrust on their most significant bond deals in Georgia.
Overall, 2014 was a good year for the public finance sector with much of the activity coming from issuances related to public facilities and utilities.
"Interest rates continue to stay the course at historically low levels which fueled much of the demand during 2014," Mr. Vaughan said. "Hopefully 2015 will result in the flow of additional capital for basic infrastructure needs." Mr. Vaughan anticipates that with the passing of the 2014 elections, state and local governments might be more apt to issue debt for much needed transportation and other infrastructure projects.
