Holland & Knight Ranked No. 1 Bond Counsel in Georgia in The Bond Buyer’s Midyear Report
ATLANTA (August 20, 2015) – Holland & Knight claimed the top spot among bond counsel firms in Georgia during the first six months of 2015, according to The Bond Buyer, the industry’s daily trade publication. The team, led by Partner Woody Vaughan, served as bond counsel on approximately $1.6 billion in bond issuances during the first half of 2015. The financings reflected a mix of both new capital projects as well as refinancings of existing debt. Some of the larger financings in 2015 have included the State of Georgia, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority and the Gwinnett County School District.
Holland & Knight also achieved a top ranking for bond counsel in the Southeastern U.S. The firm was ranked fourth for combined sales handled by its Georgia and Florida teams. In Florida, the firm acted as bond counsel to, among others, the City of Lakeland in financing improvements to a spring training facility for the Detroit Tigers and on several refundings for Sarasota County, Florida.
Mr. Vaughan said that 2015 has been a solid year so far as interest rates have remained low. “This is a very exiting time for public finance in the Southeast. The markets have remained favorable for refinancings of existing debt, which improve the bottom line for taxpayers. We have also seen an uptick in new infrastructure projects throughout the state.” Mr. Vaughan also noted that transit-oriented projects continue to be a focus in 2015 in Georgia and Florida, as well as local water and sewer infrastructure projects.
