Overview
Alex Selarnick is a business attorney in Holland & Knight's Philadelphia office. Mr. Selarnick advises insureds, insurers and insurance technology companies (InsurTechs), as well as their partners and investors, on a broad range of compliance, regulatory and transactional matters.
Mr. Selarnick's practice primarily focuses on corporate transactions in the insurance and reinsurance industries. He regularly advises public and private corporate clients, private equity sponsors and other investors on strategic investments, mergers and acquisitions, reinsurance transactions, joint ventures and other insurance industry transactions, including private equity participation in offshore reinsurance vehicles (i.e., rent-a-captives, segregated cells and other forms).
Mr. Selarnick is also an experienced regulatory lawyer with a particular focus on the intersection of insurance and technology. He frequently works with insurers, reinsurers, producers, managing general agents (MGAs), service contract providers and other industry participants on new products and services, including embedded insurance offerings and alternative distribution models. He also regularly works on captive insurance programs, state regulatory filings and reporting, and other licensing and compliance matters.
In addition, Mr. Selarnick often works directly with boards of directors and senior management on strategic and governance matters involving regulatory compliance and risk assessment. He helps clients navigate complex, multi-jurisdictional laws, defend against regulatory investigations and enforcement actions and obtain regulatory approvals for transactions involving changes in control. He also has extensive trade credit insurance experience, and he guides market-leading supply chain and trade finance companies on their credit insurance programs.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Selarnick was an attorney at an international law firm in its Philadelphia office.
