Overview

Stacey H. Wang is a commercial litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's Los Angeles office, where her practice focuses on complex civil disputes involving technology and finance. Ms. Wang has substantial experience in matters involving technology infringement, trade secret theft, advertising, real estate development, and various financial and business practices. Her experience also includes representing companies and individuals involved in regulatory and criminal investigations. Ms. Wang has served as a volunteer deputy district attorney, trying cases on behalf of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. She has litigated matters in California state courts and the federal courts of California, Texas, Delaware, Missouri and Florida.

In the legal community, Ms. Wang has been recognized with the Best Lawyers Under 40 award by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and multiple times as a Rising Star in Business Litigation by Southern California Super Lawyers magazine. Ms. Wang is a past president of the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association (SCCLA), one of the oldest Asian-American bar associations in the country, and a former board member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA). She has served on the American Bar Association (ABA) Litigation Section's Federal Practice Task Force, which initiates and considers revisions to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Within Holland & Knight, Ms. Wang was selected to participate in the firm's "Rising Stars" program (2014) and named the litigation Chesterfield Smith Fellow (2011). She currently serves as the Public and Charitable Service partner for the Los Angeles office and the firmwide pro bono coordinator for cases referred by Kids in Need of Defense, a pro bono initiative that aims to provide legal representation to unaccompanied children in removal proceedings. She also chairs the firm's Asian/Pacific Islander Affinity Group, sits on the Diversity Council and is a member of the firm's Diversity and Inclusion Engagement Initiative.

Ms. Wang was a judicial extern to the Honorable Margaret M. Morrow of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. She also served as a state bar-certified extern for the Civil Licensing Section of the California Attorney General's Office, where she prosecuted civil licensing disciplinary actions. Other law school activities include being selected to compete in Vienna, Austria, in the Willem C. Vis International Moot Arbitration competition and serving as the chief copy (articles) editor for the Loyola of Los Angeles International & Comparative Law Review.

Business, Finance and Real Estate Litigation

  • Represented equity investors and national retailers in real estate development disputes with other developers, guarantors and governmental entities
  • Represented lenders and businesses in breach of guaranty and financial fraud cases
  • Defended a foreign television importer and executive against fraud and racketeering claims involving foreign export insurance guaranty transactions
  • Represented a wine brand in breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation action against winemaker over spoilage and contamination of various wines
  • Represented companies in disputes alleging breach of supply and services contracts, licensing agreements, consulting agreements, earn-out agreements, real estate development and investment agreements
  • Represented a chemical manufacturer and tree service contractor in False Claims Act (FCA) cases

Advertising Litigation and Class Actions

  • Representing colleges and universities in class actions seeking refunds of tuition and fees following transition to remote learning during COVID-19 pandemic, as well as in defending vaccine mandates and return-to-campus protocols
  • Defended manufacturers and retailers in false advertising representative and class actions asserted under the California Consumers Legal Remedies Act (CLRA) and Unfair Competition Law (UCL), including alleged misrepresentations regarding website booking fees, battery life in electronic devices, cosmetology and "Made in USA" claims
  • Represented advertising agency in various contractual disputes with advertisers

Intellectual Property Litigation

  • Defended a national printing company in trade secret misappropriation allegations asserted by a competitor following the hiring of competitor's executive
  • Defended a global business telecommunications company and retailers in copyright infringement, breach of license and trade secret misappropriation claims brought by software company in Delaware
  • Defended a global toy brand in an inventor dispute regarding the alleged misappropriation of trade secrets under the California Uniform Trade Secrets Act (CUTSA) and the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA) of 2016
  • Represented companies in trademark infringement actions in the areas of sporting goods, pet toys and medical supplies
  • Represented a global fine dinnerware brand in trade dress infringement litigation to protect the company's best-selling premier tableware line
  • Represented textile manufacturers and retailers in copyright infringement litigation
  • Represented foreign semiconductor company in LED patent infringement litigation

Product Liability Defense

  • Defended logistics and biosciences companies in product liability actions, including matters involving allegations of injury from exposure to pollutants; occupational exposure to various insecticides, herbicides and fungicides; and exposure to various food flavoring chemicals

  • Represented a healthcare company in a high-profile protest involving the largest state procurement in the United States
  • Representing national bank in civil enforcement action
  • Represented companies and individuals in criminal antitrust and fraud investigations
