Tax attorneys Joshua Odintz, Christopher Rizek, Amish Shah and Daniel Strickland will share insights on tax law during the American Bar Association's 2024 May Tax Meeting. This event brings together like-minded professionals to network and examine the latest regulations and policies at the federal, state and local level.
Mr. Odintz will participate as a panelist during the administrative practice section of the meeting discussing the economic substance doctrine, the associated penalty and how it has developed over time. He will share important considerations as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) works to increase enforcement and adherence.
Mr. Rizek will participate as a panelist during the corporate counsel section of the meeting addressing critical considerations for in-house counsel, corporate tax departments and outside counsel. He will discuss attorney-client privilege, the tax practitioner privilege and the work product doctrine.
Mr. Shah will speak during the energy and environmental taxes section of the meeting examining clean energy credits and significant legislation, such as the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA). He will also address the present and future impacts of recent taxation measures on climate issues during the plenary luncheon on May 4.
Mr. Strickland will also discuss energy taxation during the energy and environmental taxes section of the meeting. He will examine the latest proposed regulations regarding the 45V clean hydrogen production credit as well as address clean fuel production credits and aviation fuel credits.
