Business Law Fall Meeting 2025

Attorneys Edward Fitzgerald, John Grugan, Tim Poydenis and Danielle Reyes will be speaking at the American Bar Association's (ABA) Business Law Fall Meeting 2025. This global business law event features more than 50 CLE programs, dynamic discussions on emerging trends and innovations, and networking with managing partners, in-house counsel, regulators, judges and top practitioners.

Ms. Reyes will speak on a cross-border panel examining how rapidly evolving U.S. and Canadian standards on sustainability and greenwashing are reshaping corporate compliance and risk management strategies. She will also cover climate-related financial risk developments, including shifting federal and state disclosure requirements and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency's (OCC) withdrawal from interagency climate risk principles.

Mr. Fitzgerald will join a panel unpacking receiverships as a key remedy for creditors dealing with distressed businesses or assets, including how receivers are appointed and their role as officers of the court. He'll compare the advantages and drawbacks of receivership to other U.S. and Canadian insolvency proceedings, offering practical insights for creditor strategy.

Mr. Grugan will speak in a presentation examining recent regulatory and legal developments reshaping core corporate functions from compliance and finance to the boardroom. He will offer practical strategies for aligning these functions to strengthen corporate governance and mitigate enterprise risk.

Mr. Poydenis will speak during the Private Equity and Venture Capital Committee and Subcommittee Meetings, featuring substantive discussions on key business law topics and the groups' ongoing initiatives.
