UK Commission Takes A Pass On U.S.-Style Whistleblower Bounties

United Kingdom regulators reported that applying the United States' financial reward program for whistleblowers would not help the government uncover much fraud and gives employees incentive to sidestep internal reporting systems. Litigation Partner Bill Shepherd helped organize the U.S. meetings with British regulators.

"They want to create culture of internally inspired ethics instead of gotcha," Mr. Shepherd said. "What they're concerned about is creating the whole industry of whistleblowers and folks running around trying to drum up these cases."
