Energy attorney Inés Elvira Vesga was quoted in an article by El Colombiano about the challenges faced by Ecopetrol's new president, Ricardo Roa, regarding oil and gas production, as well as the company's energy transition toward clean energy in Colombia. Ms. Vesga emphasized the importance of continuing to consolidate the energy transition process within the company, alongside the resources of hydrocarbons, and for the company to continue generating sufficient resources for the state in terms of royalties, taxes and dividends.
"If Ecopetrol continues to promote renewable energy projects and at the same time manages to increase the oil and gas reserves required to maintain the sovereignty, security and self-sufficiency needed by the country, it can continue to be a leading company not only in Colombia but in Latin America," she said.
