82% of the Energy Projects in La Guajira Face Setbacks

Energy attorney Inés Elvira Vesga was interviewed by La República about the energy transition in Colombia. The country has fallen behind in the Energy Transition Index of the World Economic Forum, partly because of the setbacks energy projects face in La Guajira. Ms. Vesga highlighted that the pact signed by communities, regional leaders, businesses and the Association of Renewable Energy in Colombia faces challenges.

“You don’t see concrete actions in the agreement. It seems more like a recognition of conflict, and there are generalities included that have already been considered, beginning with the Political Constitution as a guarantee of social, economic, and environmental rights, community participation, and social investment,” she said.
