Health Resolutions Put the System in Crisis

Corporate attorney Diego Acevedo was mentioned in an article published by Portafolio about a Colombian government draft resolution that defines the conditions and responsibilities of Basic Health Teams, through 5 percent of the Capitation Payment Unit (UPC). Analysts are concerned that this decision may cause problems in healthcare and finances. Mr. Acevedo expressed that it would be impossible to finance the various services and care while trying to guarantee the Basic Teams with the funds intended for the UPC.

“The implication of assuming these costs would result in the underfunding of other pathologies, which could jeopardize health coverage for high-risk patients, among others," he said.
