Holland & Knight Advises Aurelius Systems on $40 Million Series A Financing
LOS ANGELES (September 8, 2026) – Holland & Knight advised San Francisco-based Aurelius Systems, a defense technology company developing low-cost, high-powered laser systems that neutralize drone threats, in connection with a $40 million Series A funding round. The investment was co-led by Draper Associates and KAS Venture Partners, with participation from General Catalyst, Hanwha Asset Management Venture Fund, Outlander, Alumni Ventures, Bravo Victor Venture Capital (BVVC), Detroit Venture Partners and Decisive Point, among other investors. The transaction was announced on August 5.
The new funding is earmarked to continue advancing Aurelius' flagship platform, Archimedes, through technical development, scale, and expanding operations and production. It will also support vertical integration to reduce supply chain risk, improve availability of critical components, strengthen long-term manufacturing resilience and readiness, and accelerate delivery to customers. The additional funding will also be used to broaden platform offerings and expand into new markets.
Holland & Knight's representation of Aurelius was led by Partner Tim Poydenis (co-head of the Emerging Companies & Venture Capital practice), with support from Associates Chris Rosene, Tracy Walker and Sebastian Oranday (Emerging Companies & Venture Capital).
