Navigating Competition, Regulation and Risk in the AI Economy
Antitrust attorney Timothy Ray and Intellectual Property attorney Robert Hill co-hosted a webinar with NERA economists Veronica Postal and Kristopher Hult on the fast-changing competition, regulatory and operational risks facing organizations that adopt artificial intelligence (AI). The panel examined how established antitrust principles apply to AI markets and addressed growing scrutiny of algorithmic pricing, strategic partnerships, vertical integration and access to data and computing resources. They also addressed intellectual property, privacy, vendor dependency and other risks that can emerge as businesses integrate AI into their operations. Speakers encouraged organizations to evaluate AI arrangements early, document their business rationale and safeguards, maintain meaningful human oversight and monitor regulatory requirements across jurisdictions. These steps, they reiterated, can help businesses pursue AI's benefits while strengthening governance and preparing for regulatory review.
