Holland & Knight Aviation Law Blog

Holland & Knight’s Aircraft Finance Team has partnered with SMBC Aviation Capital Limited to co-direct and participate in Euromoney’s Latin America School of Aviation Finance Sept. 11-12 in Mexico City. Phillip Durham, one of Holland & Knight’s New York-based Aircraft Finance partners, will again act as co-director of the school, a role that he has served in for the entirety of the school’s history.

Day one opens on Sept. 11 with Financing Strategies as the day’s module, discussing market trends in Latin America, how the ratification of the Cape Town Convention affects Latin America, various financing options for aviation, including export credit and capital markets and strategies for effecting the financings. Phil Durham will close out day one by presenting with Andre Goncalves da Cruz, Asset Management Director of GOL Airlines, on airline restructurings from the lessor/financier and airline perspectives.

Operating Leasing is the focus of day two on Sept. 12, with additional Holland & Knight Aircraft Finance partners presenting on their various areas of knowledge and experience. New York-based Richard Furey will present "Operating Leases: An Explanation and Update," in the morning session, while San Francisco-based Nathan Leavitt will present on "Interchanges & Fleet Management: Considerations for Airlines and Lessors," panel, as well as the Maintenance Reserves and Technical Considerations in Operating Leasing panel.

Watch our LinkedIn page and Twitter feed for updates and highlights from the various panels and return to the Aviation Law blog to read what we thought the major takeaways were from the two day program.
