Energy Transition in Offshore Wind Projects
Energy and Natural Resources attorney Claro Manuel Cotes published an article in Lexir analyzing the progress of offshore wind projects in Colombia. Mr. Cotes comments that the new auction for these projects is an important step in the country's transition toward a cleaner, more sustainable economy, but it does create certain challenges. For example, it is important to guarantee that those who win bids at the auction comply with environmental and social standards established by Colombia's Ministry of Mines and Energy, as well as consider the possible effects of incentives related to Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Sources (FNCER). In this article, the author details other aspects to keep in mind for the auction and the country's energy sector.
