Jim Paine

James Paine is a nationally and globally recognized business attorney based in Holland & Knight's Atlanta office. Mr. Paine is known for his leadership and innovation in the technology, digital transformation and outsourcing legal markets. As chair of Holland & Knight's Technology Transactions Practice and co-chair of the Data Center Team, Mr. Paine helps clients navigate the complex intersection of law, technology and strategy – advising global enterprises on structuring, negotiating, optimizing and exiting high-value commercial technology relationships.

Mr. Paine's practice spans the full spectrum of technology and outsourcing transactions, including information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing (BPO), enterprise resource planning (ERP) licensing and implementation, cloud computing – such as software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) – and other mission-critical enterprise technology deals. He also counsels clients on digital marketing and e-commerce arrangements, joint venture shared services, technology commercialization, strategic alliances and data-driven enterprise contracts that power business transformation.

Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Paine has led engagements across North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, representing clients in the U.S., Canada, the European Union (EU), India, Mexico, the Philippines and China, among others. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Paine practiced corporate law with a leading international firm in Atlanta and served as corporate counsel for information technology and data privacy at The Home Depot, where he supported large-scale technology initiatives and data protection programs.
