Beyond the Ballot – The 2026 Midterm Readout: Data Centers, Privacy, Prices
Holland & Knight, Austin Sustainability Professionals
A group of Holland & Knight attorneys and public policy professionals will present a webinar analyzing the results of the 2026 midterm elections and exploring what the outcomes mean for data center development, housing affordability and privacy. Cohosted with Austin Sustainability Professionals, the program will begin with a recap of the midterm results at the state and federal levels before transitioning to a deep dive into the post-election outlook. On the data center front, speakers will discuss how the data center buildout is affecting voters as state and local governments such as Texas increase regulatory requirements and tighten the reins on additional development. Next up will be the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act and affordability, where panelists will debate whether the law will give banks more room to extend mortgage credit and whether it will prove helpful for buyers. Finally, the conversation will tackle privacy, including the spotlight on Flock license plate cameras and public surveillance tools as well as surveillance pricing/individualized pricing practices and consumer protection issues surrounding what consumers pay. Attendees will gain valuable commentary that distills the election results into focused areas to monitor and clear, actionable steps.
